Between age ten to age twenty, with any kind of luck, our kids shift from being little children to becoming independent young adults. The shift is often gradual, halting…and, to be honest… stop-and-start. We thought they were doing okay, then they drop the ball! We thought they had responsible judgement…and then, oh dear! Maybe not! It can feel as if there are unpredictable, unexplained, mysterious forces at play! A Bermuda triangle of responsibility.
This class will offer a series of topics to de-mystify the forces at play in our kid’s maturation through the teen years. We’ll be considering a framework of teen development;
how gender impacts a variety of situations;
how to improve communication between parents and teens;
how to manage and learn the most from the inevitable crises kids experience;
what we can anticipate with regard to love, sex and romance…and real intimacy;
and finally, we’ll give some attention to being “good enough” parents!
