Lay Readers at St Mattress: Why Family is the MOST Important "Church" They'll Ever Attend

  • St Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church 8011 Douglas Avenue Dallas, TX, 75225 United States (map)

Without ever leaving home, like it or not, for better or for worse, intentionally or by accident, family life is spiritually formative. In other words, our family life is the most primary experience our kids have with “church.” Join us as we consider how kids learn about imperfection, unconditional acceptance, forgiveness and reconciliation, commitment and many more spiritual lessons. . . you guessed it . . . at home!

Topics to include:

  • Church begins at home (rationale)

  • Do we offer unconditional love and acceptance?

  • How does our family view imperfection? What happens when we “fall short?” apologies, forgiveness and reconciliation?

  • Family as where we learn to have a servant’s heart and selflessness: learning commitment, “kid for others”, pastoral care as tending the needs of others

  • Reaching outside the home: hospitality, compassion, community service; avoiding “doing good badly”

The series will include 3 Wednesday evenings, Sept 15, Oct 13 and Nov 10; 7-8:30 pm.. Hosted by St Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, The Chapel, 8011 Douglas, 75225. No cost to attend; all are welcome. Kathleen asks that you come prepared to wear your mask.
